Company History

Goin' Mobile was started on March 22, 1985 with the purchase of a Yamaha RM804 mixer & Yamaha MT44 cassette four truck. Work consisted primarily of recording other students musical projects, and mixing them back at my apartment. Later a Fostex 1/4" 8 track was added.

My first van was a grey Ford Econoline E150 purchased in 1987, equipped with a Seck 1882 mixing board, Fostex 8 track, and a groovy blue interior from the previous owner. This van died rapidly, as the previous owner apparently didn't know what an oil change was ("how much damage could he have done in 40,000 miles?). My NEXT van was a brand new 1987 Ford Econoline E150, which was equipped with the same equipment. Later major equipment upgrades included 1" 16 track recording, A new Mackie 24 input console w/ 24 input expander, ADAT tape recorders, and DA88 tape recorders. This wonderful van ran 12 years without a significant problem. It now ferries motocross motorcycles around.

In June 1999, my latest truck was purchased, a 1995 Isuzu NPR with a 14' box. This afforded plenty of room for a growing list of equipment. In 2002 I took the next step and added a 24 track hard disc recording system...no tape!

In Goin' Mobile's 25 years in business, I've been on freight boats, islands, parked on loading docks, parked on freight elevators, parked on sidewalks in NYC and yes, even to prison (as a visitor that is). It's been fun. Below are some pictures of the mighty brown van.
