With the down economy there are a lot of newbies out there peddling portable "rigs" to do live recordings. Anybody that can pronounce protools(tm) suddenly declares themselves mobile recording "experts" to make a quick buck...and you're the victim. Whatever you save on the recording will certainly be spent trying to "fix" up your recording in the studio.
Mobile recording requires specific skills, including extensive electronic knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Our job is to ensure a smooth recording so you can relax and focus on your show!
Even if you don't use Goin' Mobile, any mobile recording truck provides the following advantages.
Isolation from the loud sounds inside - Inside a loud venue it is almost impossible to hear what is going to tape, even if they get a separate room. Low frequencies carry very well, and getting the right balance on tape is nothing more than a chance. A mobile truck provides an acoustically isolated environment where you can hear exactly what is going on tape, listening on speakers, not headphones. |
A stable recording system - All the recording gear is wired in place, and all the kinks worked out. Lugging decks around in portable cases can damage equipment that won't be apparent until it's needed. Is there a replacement? Can they get it there in time? Who knows. |
Signals right off the mic - Trucks use a mic splitter to share the mic signals with the PA company. Right at the source. Companies using portable rigs usually try to tap off the board. Bad idea! Even if it isn't full of hum & buzz you're at the mercy of the equalization or fader movements of the PA engineer. That's presuming you get their cooperation, considering it's not their responsibility. |
| Here are a few reasons you should choose OUR mobile truck...
Goin' Mobile specializes in Gospel Music. Gospel brings a number of challenges with it, and we know the terrain. 2011 is our 26th year in business. |
Goin' Mobile provides you MX2424 Hard Disk Digital Recording AND a full digital backup on DA38. A backup is critical in case of hard drive failure. Only flunkies "wing it". Protools(tm) is notoriously unreliable on the road. I've heard MANY horror stories. Our machines make broadcast .wav files that import easily into protools(tm) when you get to the studio. |
Goin' Mobile has UPS Power Protection on all recording equipment means that even if the power to the truck gets cut, we still go on recording! None of the flunkies provide this!
Goin' Mobile doesn't rent PA systems, shoot video, design webpages or own a fixed recording studio. Live Gospel Recording is what we do. No conflicts of interest. Anyone that claims they are experts at studio recording, live recording & PA is fooling themselves. All these "jack of all trades" types deliver is mediocrity.

The Goin' Mobile truck is designed especially for our core client, the independent Gospel Artist. You're not paying for gear that sits around never getting used. By only owning what our core client needs, we offer an exceptional value for a mobile truck. Hiring the lowest bidder may save you money now, it will cost you more in the studio repairing what wasn't recorded right the first time.
